News from The Innevation Center (June 30th)

The Innevation Center is a one-of-a-kind public/private conference, collaboration & coworking environment created by Switch. Mission – to boost and diversify Nevada’s economy. Below is top news that happened for The Innevation Center during the week of June 30, 2014.

#1 – 3 Innevation Collaborators Reforming Teacher Professional Development

On Monday, August 4, 2014 head to The Innevation Center from 2 to 4 pm to take part in an important discussion: Reforming Teacher Professional Development & Literacy Outcomes.

Guinn Center for Policy Priorities, Nevada Succeeds, and The Public Education Foundation all call The Innevation Center home and we’re so proud of their efforts to improve education in Nevada!” The Innevation Center team wrote on their blog. “The meeting will present research from Seth Rau, Policy Director at Nevada Succeeds, and Victoria Carreon, Director of Research & Policy at Guinn Center for Policy Priorities. They’ve been working diligently on a paper that analyzes the effectiveness of current professional development efforts and recommends means of improvement. Their research also looks at current funding and how it can be re-prioritized to improve professional development.”

The Public Education Foundation will also be moderating a panel of local education leaders who will discuss their efforts to improve professional development, barriers they have encountered, and recommendations for the future. Panelists include:

Dena Durish- Director of Educator Effectiveness, Nevada Department of Education

Marty Gardner- Executive Director of Curriculum and Professional Development Division, Clark County School District

Ernie Rambo- Teacher leader at Johnson Middle School, Clark County School District

Salvador Rosales- Coordinator IV, Reading Rangers/WIPR, English Language Learner Department, Clark County School District

#2 – Food Truck Frenzy
