Soldering Workshop with the DEFCON Darknet Badge @ SYN Shop
Sep 22 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm

Screen Shot 2014-09-14 at 6.43.04 PMFor this next soldering work shop, we’re going to be assembling the DEFCON Darknet Badge.  This kit is one which I designed for the DEFCON Darknet Contest, and is designed to be easy for anyone to solder and entirely hackable. This kit can be used in the on going contest, as well as be used as a functional Arduino.

https://github.com/thedarknet/hhvkit

Details on the DEFCON Darknet contest are here:

https://dcdark.net

This kit was immensely popular at DEFCON, selling out each day within the first 20 minutes.  The final two kits sold for $160, the proceeds of which went to support the EFF.   And you can be happy in knowing that your money here is also going to support two non-profits you should love, SYN Shop and the EFF.
I think this kit is very cool, and have received a lot of positive feedback, so I’m sure you’ll also enjoy playing with it.

Fix-it Night @ SYN Shop
Sep 25 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm

Synshop is having a  “Fix It” night, one night a month.   Bring something from home you are having trouble with, and tap into the community to fix it. If no one brings anything in we will also perform preventative maintenance and repair on the shop equipment.
Examples of repairable items include: a phone, computer, drill, printer, bike, furniture, lawn mower, cars, , models, toys, clothing etc..

We need shop volunteers to help people who don’t know how to “fix it” otherwise they would have by now. Volunteers to cover the different general disciplines, computer, electronics, sewing, wood, mechanical etc…

Members, please speak up and give back to the shop by volunteering a couple of hours a month, this doesn’t have to be a long term commitment, you could do it just once or as many times as you want. People who volunteer will make new friends and have fun coaching people on teardown and diagnosing why it failed.
